CONNER, Dorothy Evelyn – age 84, passed away on January 20, 2018 in Flint, Michigan. Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 12:00pm with memorial visitation prior to the service at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church – 711 S. Saginaw Street, Flint, Michigan with Reverend Dan Scheid officiating. Dorothy was born on October 6, 1933 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Edwin Carl and Herece Green. On August 9, 1959 Dorothy married the love of her life Johnnie Conner in Shreveport, Lousiana, and together they built a life full of happiness and love. Dorothy received her Bachelors of Arts from Central State University in Ohio and her Masters of Education from Eastern Michigan University. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, CEC Gospel Choir, Valley Voyagers Travel Club, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed making crafts for her family and friends, an educator, and extremely hardworking in everything she pursued. Most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Dorothy was known greatly for her love and collection of elephants. She was a wonderful, driven, and compassionate woman that will be deeply missed. She is survived by her children: Derek (Cindy) Conner and Jeanine (James) Franklin; grandchildren: Jayme Franklin, Jenae Franklin, Willem Conner, and Drew Conner; her special sister in law, Margaritte Whitmon; special friend, Tonya Lymon; and a loving host of sister and brother in laws, nieces, nephews, godchildren, special friends, and family. She was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie Conner; parents, Edwin Carl and Herece Green; and sister, Dolores Barnes. The family would like to send a special thank you to the workers at McFarlan Village and Pam Rinaldo for their endless care and compassion throughout her life. |
