Flaig, David – of Burton, age 64, passed away peacefully at home with loved ones on March 9, 2025 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
David Richard Flaig, Jr. was born in Rapid City, South Dakota on April 2,1960, son of Sandra Hackett and the late David James Flaig, Sr. He was the eldest to many siblings and accumulated numerous friends through the years that turned into family. David married the love of his life, Patricia (Jarema) Flaig, and together they celebrated a beautiful 43 years of marriage.
He never met a stranger and brought laughter and camaraderie wherever he went. Some of David's happiest moments were spent with his friends and family, especially his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed weekends full of golf at Flaigs Fairway, cheering on his favorite sports teams with his people. David had a great sense of humor and a boisterous personality —his infectious laugh and bright smile will be dearly missed. His legacy of loyalty, friendship, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
David is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Nicholas (Alysha) Flaig and Rebecca (Kevin) McConnell; grandchildren Maxwell, Easton, Oliver, and Layla; loving mother Sandra (Phillips) Hackett; siblings Victor (Rhonda) Flaig, Lorne (Arlene) Flaig, Robert (Luisa) Flaig, Tyra (Richard) Wiebe, Jeffrey (Debbie) Flaig, Sindy Behrends; step-brothers Russell (Nancy) Manser, Richard Manser (Heather), Ronald (Mashell) Manser; best friend, Bill (Kim) Lucius; many beloved nieces and nephews, and other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, David Sr. and Connie (Manser) Flaig, and beloved brother-in-law and sister-in law Steven and Kathleen White.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring so that family and friends from out of state may be in attendance.
