SCOTT, Jay S. – of Burton, age 94, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 at The Pines of Burton. Mr. Scott was born March 5, 1918 in Flint, Michigan the son of Jay and Grace (Shannon) Scott. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On March 5, 1956 he married Marguerite Podulka. Jay was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Flint Skating Club and the Eastside Senior Center. He was a retired Engineer from Buick Motor Division. Surviving are: daughter, Rochelle Machado and friend James Taylor; son, Shannon (Sandra) Scott; 2 granddaughters, Cenobia (Frank) Molina and Cecilia (Chris) Toney; 2 great-grandchildren, Mason and Anacelia; brother, William (Marian) Scott; sister, Marilyn Jean Pike; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Arlene, and by his wife Marguerite. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12 noon Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5199 Richfield Road, Flint with Fr. George Puthenpeedika officiating. Burial follows at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation 12 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc where the Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation also at the church from 11 a.m. Wednesday until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff of The Pines and Homewood Villages and McLaren Hospice for the excellent care they gave Jay.
