AVERY, Charlotte P. – Of Flint, age 100, went to meet her Maker on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Sacred Heart Home in Avilla, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor David Hensler officiating.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2019 and 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc, Michigan.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Carman Ainsworth Senior Center, St. Paul Lutheran Church or Sacred Heart Home Activity in Avilla, IN.
Charlotte was born March 29, 1919, to John W. and Jane (Sheriff) Esch in Empire, Michigan. She attended Platte Township Elementary School and Honor Agricultural High School, graduating in 1936. On August 14, 1937 she married Morris A. Avery and moved to Flint. She enjoyed homemaking, sewing and bookkeeping. Mrs. Avery started working in 1958 and was employed at Palace Corporation, Seimens X-Ray Division and B.P.O. Elks Lodge #222 when she retired in 1984. Charlotte and Morris traveled and camped extensively until Morris’ death in 1989.
She then joined Carman-Ainsworth Seniors, where she was Treasurer of the Board for eight years. Charlotte was an avid quilter and volunteered on many programs at the Center and as a Mailer for R.S.V.P. Charlotte was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she was a money counter.
Surviving are daughters, Sherry L. (Ralph) Redinger of Flint,
Brenda L. (Reverend Dwight) Bland of Boonville, IN and
Tonya L. (Donald) Chaffin of Garrett, IN;
8 grandchildren, Todd (Candi) Bland,
Theresa Phelps,
Roxanna (Gary) Trivitt,
Dalette (Joe) Miron,
Tina (Scott) Hall,
Tara (Mike) Lilly,
Tricia (Chad) Rayle and Trina (Kip)Rayle;
18 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Morris, daughter, Joy Lane, grandson, Baby Williams and grandson-in-law, Dan Phelps.
