FREDERICK, Alexander - Age 91, of Flushing, died, Saturday, February 25, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Dr. Darrell Foltz officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 5-8 PM. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home, held under the auspices of the Swartz Creek Masonic Lodge #458 F.& A.M. Those desiring may make contributions to First Baptist Church, 6106 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc MI 48439. Mr. Frederick was born November 26, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Alexander and Luise (Sinay) Frederick. He was a 1939 Graduate of Flint Central High School. He married Mary A. Pullum September 23, 1950 at First Baptist Church in Grand Blanc. Mr. Frederick retired in 2000 from General Motors Buick Motor Division, where he taught many Brothers the craft in his 58 years. Mr. Frederick was a member of the Swartz Creek Masonic Lodge #458 F.& A.M. He was initiated an Entered Apprentice on September 8, 1954, passed to the degree of Fellowcraft October 20, 1954, and raised to a Master Mason October 27, 1954 at Swartz Creek Masonic Lodge. He served as Worshipful Master in 1962, and Secretary from 1969 until 1992. Swartz Creek Lodge honored him as Secretary Emeritus in 1993, and Mason of the year in 1994. He was President of King Solomon Club in 1967 in District #20. He was also District #20B Deputy Instructor for two terms. Worshipful Brother Alex attended Lodge some 7000 times over a 35 year period, where he lectured some 19,000 Entered Apprentices, Fellowcrafts, and Master Masons, the most at one time was 9 at High 12 Lodge in Detroit. Worshipful Brother Alex installed in the neighborhood of 210 Worshipful Masters and was an Honorary Member in 40 Lodges in Michigan. He was attended First Baptist Church in Grand Blanc since 1949, where he taught Junior boys, served as President of the Men's Group, served as President of Loyal Lights Sunday School, and was a member of the choir. He played on the church softball team and was an avid tennis player. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Mary; sister, Elizabeth Winchell; 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
