CURRIE, Clare Dean – of Montrose, age 95, died Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Medilodge of Montrose. Honoring Clare’s wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association.
Clare was born June 17, 1924 in Atlanta, Michigan to the late Frank and Lena (McKenzie) Currie. He grew up in Atlanta, Michigan and graduated from Atlanta High School with the class of 1942. He served his country in the US Navy from 1943-1946 during WWII as a Morse Code Operator. On June 16, 1954 he married Mary J. Newton in Angola, Indiana and she preceded him in death on March 23, 2012. Clare was a Principal at Carter Elementary School in Montrose with 36 years of service. He was a member of the MENSA International and enjoyed photography. However, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are: Son, Scott (Merian) Currie; Grandchildren, Dawn (Curtis) Wickwire, Eric (Brook) Currie, Tara (Cody) Currie, Heather Curry; Great Grandchildren, Colin Wickwire, Gavin Wickwire, Paxton Wickwire, Breanna Currie, Blakely Currie; nieces and nephews.
