CHENEY, Thomas J. - Of Burton, age 67, died Sunday, June 4, 2017
at his residence.
Funeral service will be held 11am Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation 1-8pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Thomas was born in Flint on September 6, 1949, and was a resident of Flint and Burton all his life. On January 28, 1969, he married Bonnie Walker. Tom retired from General Motors in 1999 after 31 years of service. Tom loved his classic cars, “Back to the Bricks” and the Lapeer Drag Strip. He enjoyed working in his yard and being outside.
Surviving are wife, Bonnie;
children, Angela (Keith) Luxton, Mary (John) Ray, and Tommy (Friede) Cheney;
grandchildren, Felica Ray, John Ray and fiancee Chelcey, Keith (Ariel) Luxton, Carson Cheney and Candace Luxton;
great-grandchild, Kane Luxton;
siblings, Judy Harris, Larry (Jean) Cheney, Bill (Sena) Cheney, Sally (Ed) Pickett and Janice (Ted) Hunt;
and good friend, Roger Gilbert.
He was preceded in death by his parents Nelson and Mary (McGraw) Cheney, and sisters, Georgia, Linda and Nancy.
