WILLIAMS, James L. "Jim" - Age 77, of Fenton died in his wife’s arms March 31, 2018 at McLaren Hospital in Flint after a courageous battle against Multiple Myeloma. A memorial service celebrating Jim’s life will be held at the Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, Michigan on Saturday, April 21 at 1:00 P.M. Visitation with the family will be Friday April 20 from 6:00 to 9:00; and Saturday from 11:00 until the time of the service. Graveside services will be held in Reedsburg, Wisconsin at a later date. Memorials in Jim’s name may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation, the Wounded Warriors’ Project or the charity of one’s choice.

Jim was born January 15, 1941 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin to Robert and Elvera (Roloff) Williams. He was a graduate of Reedsburg High School, class of ’59 where he lettered in football, basketball, baseball and wrestling. He received his Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1964.

September 7, 1963 he married his high school sweetheart, Linda (Stofer) at the First Presbyterian Church in Reedsburg. They were married over fifty-four years.

Jim had a forty-two year career in the automotive industry during which he held executive positions at Chevrolet, Volkswagen of America, Nissan, Cars and Concepts, Sachs Automotive and Automotive Products. Upon retirement in 2006 he established Williams Engineering Services. He was retained by numerous law firms throughout the United States as an expert witness in product liability.

Jim was a former president of the Fenton Jaycees. He served on the Fenton Building Authority, the Fenton Compensation Committee and the LDFA. He was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and the Detroit Model Railroad Club. Tuesdays were reserved for breakfast with the ROMEOS (Retired Old Men Eating Out) and the Detroit Model Railroad Club in Holly. Wednesdays were for golf.

In addition to his wife, Linda, Jim is survived by his sons: Dave (Michelle) Williams of Solon, Ohio and John (Svetlana) Williams of Los Gatos, California; his treasured grandchildren, Jack and Nicole Williams of Solon, Ohio and Sophia Williams of Los Gatos California; a brother Fred (Edie) Williams of St. Augustine, Florida and many wonderful friends.
