GALANT, Maurice - Of Flint, age 88, died Sunday, March 13, 2016
at his residence.
Per Maurice’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Maurice was born in Dollarville, Michigan on October 16, 1927, the son of the late Raymond and Marie (Demerritt) Galant. On April 2, 1949, he married Betty Ann Meyers and she passed away on July 24, 2004. Maurice served his country in the United States Navy During World War II. He was a retired Battalion Chief for the City of Flint Fire Department. He was big in the Senior Olympics in Arizona, known as Ping Pong I around the Flint area. He was also known as Whitey for his white hair. Maurice was also an avid fisherman.
Surviving are 5 children, Eric “Rick” (Debra), Laura Capua, Brian, Brad (Judy) and Brenda Hathaway;
Grandchildren, Erica (Andrew) Selich, Jamie (Rueben) Holden, Melissa Fabbri, Nicholas (Robin) Robbins and Michelle (Nick Hale) Hathaway;
Great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Selich, Vanessa Selich, Nathan Selich, Gavin Rose, Britni Holden, Amy Fabbri, Katherine Fabbri, Stanley Robbins and Ian Robbins;
Special friend and companion of 8.5 years Jeanette Campbell;
1 sister and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hurley Burn Unit.
