BRACKETT, William R. – of Flint, age 86, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 at Genesys Health Park. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held 12 PM Thursday, October 25, 2018 at First Baptist Church, G-6106 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439; Pastor James Leonard officiating. Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 AM – 8 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Grand Blanc or the Disabled American Veterans.
William was born in Evart, Michigan on March 28, 1932, son of the late Bruce and Lottie (Cooper) Brackett. He married Ava Dow on November 26, 1955 and she preceded him in death October 20, 2012. William proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed woodcrafting, played the steel guitar, and the dulcimer, in his later years he sang with the local group “Just Country”. William worked production control at AC Spark Plug, was a member of UAW Local 651 and First Baptist Church Grand Blanc.
William is survived by his children, Renee (Richard) Raymond, Gail Webb, Kevin (Sandy) Brackett and Karen (Ronald) Weier; grandchildren, Angie (Patrick), Craig, Erik, Steven (Courtney), Allyse (Denny), Kevin (Amy), Allison (Jason) and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Addyson, Brookelyn, Nolan, Zaine, Gracelynne and Kaylee; sister, Avis Thompson; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by six brothers
