FORD, Deacon Sidney-age 71, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 at Genesys Convalescent Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, May 3, 2014 with 10:30 am family hour at Kingdom of Heaven Ministries 2439 Dutcher Rd., Flint, MI 48532. Apostle Dr. Lonnie Brown officiating. The final resting place for Mr. Ford will be Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc, MI. Calling hours are 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Friday, May 2, 2014 at Serenity Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Sidney Ford was born October 10, 1942 in Alexandria, LA the son of Horace and Mertha Ford. Mr. Ford was a long time resident of Flint, MI and a member of Kingdom of Heaven Ministries where he served as a Deacon as well as an a Elder. He graduated from Pea Body H.S. in Alexandria, LA. Later he was employed by Buick City and eventually retired from Beecher Community School District as a crossing guard and security guard. His hobbies included going to the beach and barbecuing for the family.
Mr. Ford leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Georgia Mae (Hunter) Ford; 7 children, Victor Mark Ford, Dr. Kirk Anthony (Elissa) Ford, April (Philip) Matthews, Lydia (Marcus) Burrell, Cynthia Ford, Kelli Ford, LeaAnn Ford; 7 grandchildren, Ciarra (Philip) Sanders, Sidni Burrell, Kealia Ford, Kamryn Matthews, Tamia Matthews, Philip Matthews, Jr., Jada Ford; 1 great-grandchild, Summer Sanders; 2 sisters, Louvenia Milton, Geneva Harris; 4 brothers, Curley Ford, Sr., Lawrence Ford, Freddie Ford, Melvin Ford; 5 nieces, Sureese (Lewis) Wright, Kay Browning, Stephanie Hannah, Arielle Milton, Alexis Milton; 10 nephews, Fredrick Milton, Jr., Robert Milton, Gary Milton, Donald Ford, Robert Hall, Jr., Patrick Hall, Matthew Hall, Brandon Hall, Jumar Bauer, Calvin Edwards; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Robert) Hall, Ruby Hunter. Dorothy Bauer, Sally (Tim) Simpson, Rose Hunter; brothers-in-law. Clarence Hunter, James (Carol) Hunter, Jr., a host of other relatives and friends, including special friends: Chelsea Miller, Michael Turner, Henry Young, Garth Spight, Jacques Smart and Ray Adams.
Mr. Sidney Ford was preceded in death by: father, Horace Ford; mother, Mertha Ford; brothers, Herman, George and Wilson Ford; sister, Voicey; father-in-law, James Hunter, Sr.; mother-in-law, Essie Mae Hunter, Erna Mae Hunter.
