MAYVILLE, FORMERLY OF FREMONT, CALIFORNIA
Mark Richard Bennett of Mayville, formerly of California, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 at his residence, following a short illness, with his family at his side. Mark was born March 5, 1958 in Merced, California to Vivian (Nottage) Bennett and the late John “Jack” Bennett. Mark spent most of his life in law enforcement, having served in California before coming to Michigan. He was a Lieutenant with the San Jose California Police Department at the time of his retirement in 2010. He retired to Michigan and was a Deputy Sheriff with the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Department as well as an MESI for both Sanilac and Tuscola Counties. He and his wife, Victoria (Barton) Bennett, spent three glorious years together. Mark loved the out-of-doors and enjoyed being a gentleman farmer.
Mark is survived by his wife, Victoria; four daughters, Nicole Bennett of Buffalo, New York, DeAnna Bennett of Santaquin, Utah, Leah Laveer & Ben, son, Andrew, of Broomfield, Colorado, Elizabeth Barton & Frank Jordan of Petaluma California; his mother, Vivian Bennett of Fremont, California; one brother, David & Grace Bennett of Tracy, California; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mayville with Pastor Terry Balogh officiating. Burial will take place at the Fremont Township Cemetery with a Eulogy Meal to follow at the church. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider contributions to the donor’s favorite charity.
