CAINE, Frances Lillian - Of Grand Blanc, age 91, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Abbey Park in Grand Blanc.
Visitation will take place at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, on Tuesday, from 5-8pm and Wednesday from 2-8pm and Thursday from 1pm until the time of the service at 2pm Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the funeral home, Father Ameer Birkha officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Frances was born in Akron, Ohio on December 17, 1923, the daughter of Samuel and Sharon Esse. Her family moved to Clio when she was three years old. She lived most of her adult life in Genesee while spending her last 2 years at Abby Park. She married John (Jack) Caine on June 23, 1946 and they were happily married until John’s death in 1993. She was proud of the fact that she was one of the original members of the Calvary Presbyterian Church. She loved being able to help people and retired from the State of Michigan after many years as a Social Worker for the Department of Human Services. Frances was active in the Genesee Parent Teachers Association. She also served as a Brownie Scout Leader and a Cub Scot Den Mother. She was an effective fundraiser for numerous charities in the county. She enjoyed cooking, baking, cake decorating, knitting, crocheting and bingo.
She loved and spent her life celebrating her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Caine, sisters, Marion Langley (GV), Martha Aldridge (Wilbur), Ester Koshaba (Bill) and Helen Lazar (Daniel)
Surviving are daughters, Sharon Bowen (Chris) of Harrison, Mary Ann Sahwany of Davison, Diane Barcey (Gerry) of Grand Blanc and son, Malcom Caine (Natalie) of Flint, sister, Sarah Warda of San Francisco and brother, Samuel Esse of Traverse City.
Also remaining to cherish her memory are 12 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Frances also considered neighbors and longtime friends, Vicki Cummings and her late husband Joe, to be members of her family.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Oaks of Woodfield, Medical Team and Staff at Abbey Park for the professional and compassionate care they provided.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Genesee Lions Club.
