DAUNT, Deacon John “Jack” Frederic - Of Grand Blanc, age 83, died Saturday, September 9, 2017 at his residence.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30am Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11824 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc.
Burial in St Thomas Aquinas Cemetery on October 9, 2017.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Outreach Program, Eastern Michigan Food Bank, Northend Soup Kitchen or Area 13 Special Olympics.
Visitation 3-8pm Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home,1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Knights of Columbus service will be held 7:15pm Wednesday evening followed by a Vigil Service at the funeral home. Visitation 10am Thursday at church until the time of the Mass.
John was born in Flint on April 20, 1934, the son of J. Fred and Kathryn Daunt. On June 15, 1974, he married Susan Kozlowski (Makarewicz) and she preceded him in death on December 21, 2016. John was employed with General Motors and retired in 1991 after 40 years of service. He was Deacon at Holy Family Catholic Church and the Founder and Director of the Outreach Program. John was also a member of Knights of Columbus, Council #674, National Ski Patrol for over 40 years, American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Instructor for over 26 years.
Surviving are children, Cathy Daunt, David Daunt and Suzanne Aprill;
step-children, Dennis and wife Joy Kozlowski, Peggy and husband Jim Nowak, David and wife Kathy Kozlowski and Pamela and husband Ron Gonzalez;
13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren;
10 brothers and sisters, Bob, Mary, Martha, Pat, Pete, Tom, Danny, Paul, Helen and Steven;
and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Susan, parents; three brothers, Jim, Mike and Jerry, and step-grandson, Matthew.
