DE-HOYOS, Maria Del Carmen – Of Burton, age 89, died Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Genesys Regional Medical Center, after a sudden illness, surrounded by her family.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2016
Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 2316 West Coldwater Road, Flint, Father Gary L. McInnis officiating.

Visitation 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. De-Hoyos will be at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the Mass.

Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Maria was born in Mission, Texas on May 21, 1927.

Maria married Horacio De-Hoyos Garza on January 7, 1950 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, moving to Michigan soon after.

She belonged to Sociedad del Altar, Club Misionero and Legion de Maria at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and Krapohl Senior Citizen Center.

Mrs. De-Hoyos was employed and later retired in 1975, after 19 years from AC Spark Plug Division.

Maria enjoyed cooking for others, gardening and sewing. No one walked away hungry when they visited her home. Her Mexican cooking skills went far beyond with family and friends. Even as far as Spain! In the summer you could see her in the garden. Maria had two green thumbs! She enjoyed traveling to casinos with family and close friends. Beyond all that was Maria’s big heart and love for her family. Her fulfillment in life were her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family time was so important to her, and her unconditional love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a bond like no other.

Surviving are beloved daughter, Connie (Rey) Davila;

grandchildren, Andrea Wendland (Lee Lambaria),
Kristina (Terry) Cavric,
Veronica (Andy) Walters and Gabriel Cantu;

great-grandchildren, Adam and Alex Wendland,
Joaquin, Cameela and Amaya Walters;

brother, Magdaleno (Concepcion) Aguilar.

sisters-in-law, Olivia Aguilar, Rosa Jimenez amd Maria de Jesus DeHoyos;

and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Horacio De-Hoyos Garza; parents, Pablo Requenes Aguilar and Concepcion Hernandez Aguilar and Dolores Hernandez Vasquez and Margarito Vasquez; siblings, Eustacio, Felipe and Apolonio Aguilar and granddaughter, Marcelena Cantu.
