CAMPBELL, Miss Madeline Rose - Age 58, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2011 at Word of Life Christian Church, 460 West Atherton Road, with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor George D. Wilkinson officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Friday. Miss Campbell will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Thursday.
Miss Madeline Rose Campbell was born November 6, 1952, the second daughter of Clarence C. Campbell, Sr. and Rose Louise (Holliday) Campbell. She attended Flint Community Schools and enjoyed writing, photography and traveling. Madeline had the opportunity to see much of the United States by car on road trips with her parents. She often spoke playfully and loving about being a member of the "Original Three", which refereed to the three oldest children of Clarence and Rose Campbell's six children. She never married nor had any children, but she had two beloved pet parakeets affectionately known as Sonny and Cher.
Miss Madeline R. Campbell leaves to cherish her memory: mother, Rose Louise (Holliday) Campbell; 3 sisters, Gail Williams (Charlie Bruce) of Flint, Carole (James) Williams of Ada, MI, Cheryl Campbell of Woodbridge, VA; 2 brothers, Clarence (Bettina) Campbell, Jr. of Rankin and Robert (Wanda) Campbell of Fenton; 7 nieces, Dionne (Nate) Elliott, TaMara Campbell, Michelle Williams, La'Tia Williams, Rhaiana Campbell, Alexis Elliott and Moneisha Campbell; 7 nephews, Terrance (Regina) Campbell , Jo'Von Rutherford, Andre Rutherford, Garrett Williams, Jonathan Campbell, Torrance Campbell, Tyler Campbell and Jay'ln Rutherford; aunts, Marion Hudspeth, Essie Lattimore and Catherine Williams; Mrs. Campbell will also be remembered by a host of other relatives and friends, including special friend, Cynthia Higgins.
Madeline was preceded in death by her father, Clarence C. Campbell, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Ernest Myers Holliday and Rosa Georgia; paternal grandparents, Hardwick and Eula Mae Campbell and aunts, Eula Dew and Abby Byars.
The family of Miss Madeline Campbell reserves special thanks and recognition for beloved sisters, Gail and Carole, who both did so much to help Madeline achieve and maintain independent living status later in life. The family also whish to express special thanks to Fay, Linda, Chris and other staff and residents of Lockwood of Burton and the Word of Life Christian Church Family.
