SOUTHWARD, Betty L. – of Flint, formerly of Ft. Myers, FL, age 90, passed away February 22, 2014 at her home. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 6 PM Friday, February 28, 2014 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski officiating. Visitation will be from 4 PM until time of service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
Betty was born in Solon, Michigan on June 5, 1923, daughter of the late Frank M. and Elizabeth (Rosinski) Stefaniak. She married Carl L. Southward on May 11, 1946 in Flint, MI. Betty and Carl enjoyed the last 32 years in Ft. Myers, Florida where she enjoyed the Garden Cove Park, walking on the beach and many craft projects. They returned to Michigan in August so they could be closer to their wonderful family and friends.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Carl; children, Dave (Carol), Dennis, Nancy Kostka, Kathy McDaniel, Mike (Jeanne), Anne (Doug Lape) Schoo, and Mary (Chris) Allard; grandchildren David, Ryan, Sean, Katie, Daniel, Michael, Adam, Matthew and Dylan; great-granddaughter, Piper; sister, Char (Ray) Holt-Miller. She was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel and Timothy; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth; three brothers and one sister. A special thanks to Heartland Hospice and Kathy Scherwin for their support and care provided to Betty and the family.
