David Lee Edwards, age 75, of Ocklawaha, Florida, formerly of Durand, Michigan, went to be with his Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, August 13, 2019.
Dave Edwards was born to Alta (Hammersley) and William Edwards on August 21, 1943 in Flint, Michigan. He graduated from Flint Northern High School, class of 1961, and obtained a salaried position with Fisher Body in Grand Blanc. His broad scope of experience was evidenced throughout a long career distinguished by promotion, culminating in the position of plant metallurgist at the time of his retirement from General Motors in 1996.
Dave married the love of his life, Katherine E. McArthur, on December 29, 1962. She now survives him, as well as his children: daughters Deborah Tompkins, Michelle Humphrey-Norman, Melynda Angioi, and son David Edwards (Jessica Treichel). He is also survived by his many beloved grandchildren: Andrew, Elizabeth, and Emma Tompkins; Alexandra, Benjamin, and Jacob Humphrey, Jorden Norman; Katherine and Madeline Catton, Jonathan Angioi; Elijah and Joshua Edwards; and great-grandchildren Nicholas and Abigail Tompkins.
Dave was well-known for his mechanical expertise. One could often find him working on various projects, whether it be fortifying a bird feeder against squirrels, tinkering with broken gadgets and engines, or refurbishing vintage pinball machines. He was always ready to lend his skills and a helping hand to family, friends, and strangers.
Services to celebrate Dave’s life will be held on his birthday, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Nelson-House Funeral Home in New Lothrop, Michigan. Comfort is to be found in David’s commitment to his family and steadfast assurance of Christ’s saving grace. To honor Dave’s faithfulness, memorial donations are suggested to his loving wife of 57 years or to Abiding Hope Lutheran Church in Ocala, Florida. |
