DAVIS, Shirley M. - Of Flint, age 87, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at her residence.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Redeemer Outreach.
Visitation 2-4pm and 5-7pm Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Vigil Service will be held 6pm Sunday evening at the funeral home. Visitation 10am Tuesday at church until the time of the Mass.
Shirley was born in Flint on July 9, 1928, the daughter of Fay and Marie (Proulx) Davis and was a resident of Flint her entire life. She graduated from Flint Central High School, Class of 1946. She was employed at MESC for 38 years retiring in 1984 as Supervisor of the Unemployment Division. Shirley played softball for many years with the IMA Girls Softball Team. She played league and pleasure golf for many years as well. Her “children” were her nieces and nephews, whom she deeply loved and who loved her in return.
Surviving are sister, Donna Berryman of Grand Blanc;
sister-in-law, Nancy Davis, of Grand Blanc;
nieces and nephews, Gregory (Patti) Davis, Jeffrey (Sue) Davis, Suanne (Rick) Casey, Mark (Laura) Davis, Kelly (Chuck) Lee, Stacey (Jerry) Ranville, Lynn (Dave) Bach and Christopher Berryman;
great nieces and nephews, Scott and Alexis Davis, Justin Robyn, Ashley and Alec Lee, Payton Ranville and Eric and Alyssa Bach;
dear friend, Bev Dodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fay and Marie (Proulx) Davis brother, Richard Davis and brother-in-law, Ronald Berryman.
A special thank you to Jannine, Trish, Becky and every staff member at Sugarbush Manor for their kind and loving care of Shirley.
