MacDONALD, Gerald “Jerry” George – of Davison, MI, age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2020. The family will receive visitors 3-7 PM Friday, July 17, 2020 at Davison Missionary Church, 1481 North Gale Road, Davison, MI 48423. Cremation will take place following the visitation. A Private Inurnment, with Military Honors, will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Detroit Sportsmen’s Congress attention Junior Programs, in Jerry’s memory.
Jerry was born on March 28, 1939 in Highland Park, MI, growing up in Jackson, MI, son of the late Donald and Anna (Pollard) MacDonald. Jerry graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School Class of 1958. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1962-1964. After serving in the U.S. Army, Jerry spent 41 years working in the automotive industry retiring in 2005. He married Susan Dethloff on September 29, 1967 in Warren, MI and they enjoyed 52 wonderful years of marriage. Jerry was a member of the Detroit Sportsmen’s Congress for 15 years.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Susan MacDonald; 4 children, Chris (Danielle) MacDonald, Susan (Jeffery) Sharum, Jody (Rocco) Wilson and Janet (Matthew) Zielinski; 11 grandchildren, Erin, Nathan, Janelle, Jack, Claire, Steve, Allie, Chris, Colton, Jake and Eve; brother-in-law, Glenn (Joanne) Dethloff; 4 nieces and nephews, Kim, Karri, Tyson and Trent; many other loving family members, friends and great neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Anna MacDonald and sister, Patriciann “Pat” Noble.
