Hourvitz, Alma Jean died peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2020, surrounded by her family. Alma was born in Flint, MI, on December 31, 1926. She married Ralph Hourvitz on October 22. 1949, and together they raised 4 daughters (AKA “The Hourvitz Girls”). She was an active volunteer in the community until the youngest went to college. Alma took needlepoint lessons which evolved into a career which lasted until she was 88 years old. She owned Needlepoint Pedaler, where many people enjoyed taking lessons and stitching. Alma leaves her daughters: Shelley Kahn, Sidnee Factor (Ken), Robin Kaplan (Robert), Kim Himelhoch (Jeff); 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren who loved her “to the moon and back”; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents Orpha and Oscar Griesa; brother Oscar Griesa; son-in-law Paul Kahn. The family requests contributions to Temple Beth El, Flint, MI or The Autism Society of America. Burial will take place at Beth El Memorial Park at Flint Memorial Park on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at 11:00 AM followed by a memorial service at Temple Beth El, 5150 Calkins Rd., Flint, MI 48532, at 1:00 PM. Shiva will 7:00 P.M. Sunday and Monday at the family home. Arrangements by the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc. MI. |
