Mary Elizabeth Hosner, 81, of Lapeer, died Thursday, November 29, 2012. Mary was born August 24, 1931 to Carl and Mariam (Shepherd) Foster.
Mary graduated from Saginaw High School, class of 1949. She married Donald Ray Hosner on February 10, 1951 in Saginaw. While raising her family, Mary worked in the housekeeping department at the Lapeer State Home and Training Center (also known as Oakdale Center). She retired in 1986 after 19 years of service. Mary adored her chihuahua, “Pixie” !
She is survived by her children: Todd (Jane) Hosner of Davison, Terry (Dan) Howard of Lapeer, James (Rita) Hosner of Mt. Pleasant, Shelby (Betty) Hosner of Lapeer and Larry (Teresa) Hosner of North Branch; twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and her siblings: Vern (Freeda) Foster of Defiance, OH, Gilson (Pat) Foster of Florida, Clio “Sonny” (Edith) Foster of Chesaning, Beverly (Vern) Rienhardt of Bay City and Marie Moleski of Davison. Mary is also survived by her step-son, Allen Foster and many, many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hosner; her son, Steven Hosner; her brother, David Foster; her sister, Velma Bosley and her step-son, Ray Hosner.
Visitation will be 2-8 Friday November 30, 2012 with a funeral service 2:00pm Saturday December 1, 2012 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer, officiated by Pastor Gene Smith. Burial will be in Stiles Cemetery, Lapeer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
