SHEPPARD-BOWMAN, Susan Lee, age 67, of Prescott, formerly of Flint, peacefully passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Gentiva Hospice. Funeral Services will be 1:00PM Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc. Pastor James Gosnell officiating. Interment in Crestwood Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be 1-8PM Tuesday and 10AM Wednesday until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial Donations may be made to Shelter of Flint (www.shelterof flint.org)
Susan was born December 16, 1945 in Flint. She married James Sheppard Jr. who preceded her in death on September 19, 2004. On January 23, 2006 she married Frederick Bowman and together they enjoyed the companionship of retirement years. She was employed by Kelly Services as an Account Representative until her retirement. Susan was a member of Shilo Missionary Baptist Church, where she also was employed and volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting, traveling, living in Florida and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved her family, and they “loved her more”. She will be missed dearly and cherished forever. Susan also treasured dearly her constant canine friend, Phoebee, who will be missing her too.
Surviving are her husband, Fred of Prescott; children, Mike Sheppard (Becky), of Durand, Debbie Thiel (Mike) of Burton, James Sheppard III of Orion Twp., Ken Sheppard of Lakeworth, FL, Jeff Sheppard (Sarah) of Grand Rapids; 25 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; step-children, Allen Bowman (Lee Anne) , Holly Wallington(Jim), Angie Jones (Craig), Kristie Briggs (Kevin), and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her mother, Verna J. Cronan on November 3, 2004 and brother, James Cruise. The family extends special thanks to the staff at Gentiva for their professional and loving care, especially Mary and Sylvia. Online condolences may be shared at www.brownfh.com
