Fredericks, Chris “Creech” – of Mt. Morris, age 65, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. John Montney to officiate, cremation will follow. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 11AM until 8PM and on Friday from 10AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Morris athletic department in honor of Chris.



Born on May 7, 1959, in Flint, MI, Chris cherished his alma mater, Mt. Morris High School, where he graduated in 1978. As a coach in the athletic industry, Chris dedicated his life to mentoring, guiding, and supporting his students and players, instilling in them his passion for sports and community. He was a pillar of the community, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a laugh with those around him. Chris was known for his unwavering loyalty, infectious laughter, and love for sports teams like the Detroit Lions, U of M Wolverines, and the Mt. Morris Panthers. His pride in his hometown was matched only by his deep love and devotion to his family and friends, with whom he shared countless joyful memories and moments of laughter.



Creech had many achievements such as being inducted into the Mt. Morris Hall of Fame, for 2014, and 2016 for girls’ softball. And the Flint Hall of Fame in 2013. Chris volunteered for over 35, 000 hours since 1980. He dedicated 26 years as a bookkeeper for all levels, currently over 2,200 games, 9 years as a volunteer assistant coach and contributing to 114 wins as an assistant coach for the girls’ basketball. Along with many State Championships, school record wins, and many Metro League Championships. Chris’s dedication and commitment to Mt. Morris School and the athletic programs are a true demonstration of Panther Pride.



Surviving are: Siblings: Brian (Carolyn) Fredericks, Roger (Kathy) Fredericks, Alicia Fredericks, Vicky (Ron) Fossett, Mary Lavigne (Bill Ayotte), Gary Lavigne, and Jennifer (Kurt) Sherwood; Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; Friend, Jo-Ann Lotten. He is preceded in death by his parents: Roger Fredericks, Gloria Lavigne, and Lance Lavigne; Brother, Neil Lavigne.
