Passed away unexpectedly Wednesday July 10, 2018 at Covenant Medical Center Cooper;
age 90 years. Alvin was born on September 15, 1927 to the late Richard and (Ella Mae) Saeger.
He honorably served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Winifred Labian on June 28, 1952, she survives him. He earned his Master’s Degree from Colorado State University. He taught Industrial Arts for Flint Public Schools and later retired from Genesee Area Skill Center teaching building trades. Alvin was also a licensed home builder. He was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 150, enjoyed gardening and working on his farm, playing music, hunting and fishing.
Surviving besides his wife Winifred are: 3 daughters, Rae (Arnie) Luallen of Clarkston, MI, Kim (Hal) Wininger of Frankenmuth, MI, Sidney (Bob Mazarowski) Saeger of Plymouth, MI, Matthew (Cheri) Saeger of Bay City, MI; 6 grandchildren Anne (Erich Balbach) Wininger, Clint Wininger, Wes (Meghan) Wininger, John (Lake Sweet) Wininger, Brooke (Ryan) Baker, Lance (John Warner) Formolo; 11 great grandchildren, 1 sister in law Carol Saeger.
Alvin was preceded in death by Art (Luella) Saeger, Doris (Noah) DeOrnellas, Royce (Wynema) Saeger, Joyce (Erwin) Liske and Rudy Saeger.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday July 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Pastor Shawn Fenske will officiate with burial services in St. Lorenz Lutheran Cemetery. Alvin’s family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St., Frankenmuth, MI on Friday July 13, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Lutheran Church or American Legion Post 150.
