HOWSER, John D. – Of Burton, age 78, died Friday, July 26, 2013 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Monday, July 29, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Ed Emmerling officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
John was born in Zanesville, Ohio on January 29, 1935, the son of the late Phillip and Myrtle (Ellis) Howser.
On March 26, 1955 he married Carol Derminer in Flint.
He was a volunteer at the Burton Senior Center.
Mr. Howser was a Burton Firefighter in the early 1970’s and was the City of Burton Street Superintendent.
Surviving are wife, Carol;
sons, John and wife Theresa Howser, Chris and wife Annette Howser;
5 granddaughters, who he called the “Fab Five”;
4 great-grandsons;
sister, Thelma Ward;
brother, Phillip Howser;
many nieces, nephews and
dog, Buffy.
