Passed away Wednesday evening, February 19, 2014 at Union Court Assisted Living in St. Charles.
Age 100 years. Cork was born on June 7, 1913 in Maple Grove. He was the son of Albert and Edith (Schlachter) Wendling. He married Louise Bishop on September 17, 1938, she passed away on September 14, 1988. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church where his Catholic faith was very important to him and he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Cork was a generous and caring man who loved to help people. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and cherished his time spent with his loving family, especially his many grandchildren.
Surviving are his seven children; Mary Louise Krupp of New Lothrop, Rosalia (Michael) Borsenik of Brant, Barbara (Ernest) Gross of New Lothrop, Joyce (Gerald) Kieffer of Chesaning, Andrew (Susan) Wendling of Chesaning, Veronica (Joseph) Eickholt of St. Charles and John (Jeriann) Wendling of Chesaning, twenty seven grandchildren, fifty nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, brothers and sisters; Harvey Wendling, Dorothy Henige, Rose Schwind, Katheryn Sawaki, sister in laws, Ernestine Wendling, Neoma Wendling and Margaret Wendling.
Besides his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters; Florence (Walt) Gross, Bertella (Charles) Birchmeier, Clair (Lucille) Wendling, Alfred Wendling, Helen (Art) Knieper, Jim Wendling, Ernie Wendling and one son in law, Luie Krupp.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 24, 2014 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Maple Grove. Fr. Nick Coffaro will officiate with burial in the St. Michael Cemetery. Friends may call at the Walker-Martin Funeral Home in Chesaning on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm and also at the Church on Monday after 10:00 am until the time of service. There will be a scripture service at 7:00 pm and the K of C Rosary at 8:00 pm Sunday evening.
