GREENE, Hugh – of Davison, age 87, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Magnolia House in Davison. A Funeral Service will be held 12 PM Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Randall Schultz officiating. Burial, with Military Honors under the auspices of Davison American Legion Post #267 will be in Green Corners Cemetery in Hadley. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Tuesday. On Wednesday, visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to Outreach East or Magnolia House. A Memorial Service under the auspices of Flint Bowling Hall of Fame will be held at 7 PM Tuesday.
Hugh was born in Davison, MI on May 29, 1926, son of the late Harry and Lois (Richards) Greene. He married Patricia Hilgendorf on February 28, 1953. Hugh proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Hugh was inducted into the Flint Bowling Hall of Fame in 1996. According to the induction program, “Greene has remained the same quiet, fair and honest friend to all.” Hugh owned and operated Rollaway Lanes since 1955, retiring in the mid 90’s.
Hugh is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pat; children, Linda (Bob) Beckelic, Peggy (Ron) Bray, Keith (Maggie) Greene, Diane (Terry) Oistad, Tracy (Tammy) Greene; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; in-laws, Patty and Marilyn Hilgendorf; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great friends, neighbors, life-long customers and loyal employees. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Gordon, Harold (Betty), Artis Cobb; in-laws, Marvin (Janet) Hilgendorf, Pete Hilgendorf, Roger Hilgendorf.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to The Oaks at Woodfield for their care. Also, a special thanks to Sheila and her team at Magnolia House. In one week, they became more like family than caregivers.
