DEITERING, Larry – of Columbiaville, age 77, passed away June 20, 2016 at University of Michigan Medical Center. Visitation will be 10 AM – 2 PM and 4-8 PM Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. Cremation will follow visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Wreaths Across America.
Larry was born in Flint, MI on November 20, 1938, son of the late Sylvester and Elsie (Pethers) Deitering. He married Marie Arnold on May 19, 1962 at Holy Rosary in Flint, MI. Larry proudly served his country in the U. S. Army Reserve and retired from Sears Roebuck after 38 years. He enjoyed woodworking, painting with watercolors, photography and the outdoors, especially water, and mountains while vacationing in Ouray, CO and Yankee Boy Basin with Marie. Larry loved spending time with his family most of all.
Larry is survived by his wife, Marie; son, John (Tammy) Deitering; daughter, Laura (Chris) Diehl; grandchildren, Paul (Desiree) Shearer, Michael Deitering, Ashley Green, Jacob Green; great grandchildren, Bailey and Paityn; siblings, Richard (Pat) Deitering, Sally (Jack) Bradford; Maggie, his favorite four legged friend; nephew, Michael (Laurie) Deitering; niece, Michele (Rob) Dawkins; other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his in-laws, Orvel and Helen Arnold; brother-in-law, Norman.
