VANGILDER, Johnnie – Of Flushing, age 82, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to Alzheimer’s Association in remembrance of Shirley Vangilder.
Visitation 3-8 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Johnnie was born January 28, 1934 in Marmaduke, Arkansas.
On March 14, 1953 he married Shirley Torrey, and she passed away on April 20, 2012.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, flying his Cherokee, camping, radio control airplanes and tinkering.
Surviving are daughters, Deborah (Richard) Nickerson and Karen (Michael) Beauchesne;
daughter-in-law, Julie Vangilder;
many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley and son, Dennis Vangilder.
