Jean Alice (Pariseau) Harris

Born: 11/4/1928
Died: 1/22/2017
Age: 88
Community: Saginaw, MI

Jean Alice (Pariseau) Harris, devoted wife of Frank, peacefully passed to her eternal life at 88 years of age on January 22, 2017, surrounded by her family and those who loved and cared for her. She was happily expectant about her transition to her eternal life in Heaven, and had earned her rest in the arms of God.

Born Nov. 4, 1928 in Bad Axe, MI, she lived in Detroit and Orchard Lake, MI, and enjoyed her retirement years in Sarasota, FL and Roswell, GA. She and Frank moved to Saginaw in 2010. Before Frank predeceased her in July 2016, they celebrated 65 years of marriage together last January, and she joined him again for their 66th in Heaven. She was also predeceased by her parents, Durward Sr. and Virginia (Partaka) Pariseau; her beloved twin sister, Audrey Bissett, and her brother Durward Lee Jr. She is survived by her 5 children and their spouses: Thomas (Joy) of Houston, TX; James (Martha) of Santa Clara, CA; Janet (Jack Nash) of Saginaw, MI; Steven (Angela) of Pinckney, MI; Michael (Kimya) of Lexington, MA; 13 beloved grandchildren, and 4 special great-grandchildren. She also held dear many nieces and nephews, all of whom she kept in touch with for their lifetimes.

She graduated with honors from her class at Cooley High School in Detroit in 1946, and had a wonderful time reconnecting with friends while working on their class reunions. She took great pride in her early work as a secretary, but chose her true vocation as a wife, mother and homemaker.

Jean’s time with us was well-lived, well-loved, and well-laughed. She was generous, kind beyond measure, curious and thoughtful. Jean was most grateful for her family, her friends and her long life to be with those she cherished. She loved her Catholic Church, good conversations, golf, crossword puzzles, reading, writing poetry, volunteering, decorating, crafts, travel, sewing, knitting, baking, and most of all, children.

She could out-champ the Jeopardy! contestants and out-spell nearly everyone we knew. A dictionary was forever by her side along with her trusty IBM Selectric typewriter for her beloved "posey" poems and correspondence. She loved to tell a good joke to anyone who needed uplifting, and never minded if she raised an eyebrow or two in the telling. Once a member of the Sweet Adelines, she loved the music of her era and beyond. At 19 years of age, she and her twin sister, Audrey, performed in Detroit for (America’s original radio “American Idol”) “The Major Bowes / Ted Mack Amateur Hour”. They sang, “Please Don’t Talk About Me When I’m Gone”, but we will anyway.

Jean was pure goodness in human form, intelligent and accomplished but never boastful, and will remain forever in our hearts.

Her family is deeply grateful to the skilled and loving staff at New Hope Valley Assisted Living, Compassus Hospice service and Theresa Smith R.N.; Judy Weigl, caregiver and friend; and Bayside Home Care and their loving aides.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will be present for visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on March 4, 2017 with a Mass immediately following at St. Dominic Parish - SS. Peter & Paul Church, 4735 W. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, MI . Rev. Father Joseph Schabel will officiate. Please visit jeanpariseauharris.com to share your stories of Jean and other information.
