BUCHANAN, Joe Thomas – Of Flint, age 85, died Monday, June 3, 2019 at Fenton Healthcare.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the
Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Deacon Ron Kenney officiating.
Entombment at Flint Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Friday and 12 p.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Joe was born in Union, South Carolina on March 7, 1934, the son of the late James and Sally (Green) Buchanan.
On February 27, 1954 he married Geraldine and she preceded him in death on December 23, 2017.
Mr. Buchanan worked production for General Motors for 35 years, retiring in 1988.
Mr. Buchanan was described as a workaholic by his family, working until the day he entered a nursing home. He was a WWF fan and enjoyed hunting.
Surviving are 3 sons;
3 daughters;
11 grandchildren;
12 great-grandchildren and one brother.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine in 2017; parents; brothers, Leroy and Charles Buchanan; sister, Doris Rogers.
