Elder, Daniel Cliften of Flushing, age 75, died Sunday, May 19, 2024, at his home. No services will be held. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Daniel was born on May 13, 1949, the son of James and Winifred (Morgan) Elder. He married Margaret Mattarella on September 24, 1977, in Flint. Daniel was known as Rainbow, selling bread for Taystee Bread and Wonder Bread. He later sold automobiles for various auto companies and spent much of his career with Grand Blanc Motorcars. He enjoyed fishing and spending time visiting his family in Traverse City. Daniel was an avid baseball fan and loved his Detroit Tigers. He loved tending to his yard and making sure it was always well taken care of. His greatest love was being with his family.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margaret “Peg”; three sons, James (Jeanene) Elder, Marcus (Kim) Elder, Joseph (Jessica) Elder; granddaughters, Marlie, Ashley; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Dave, Phyllis (Bill), Dick (Lisa), Shannon (Joy), Joanna; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved Mattarella family. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol.
