ALLYN, Donna Lou – Of Grand Blanc, age 89, died Monday, May 23, 2016 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton, Father Steve Anderson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church or the Holy Redeemer Council of Catholic Women.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Allyn will be at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the Mass.
Donna was born on January 12, 1927 in Cadillac, Michigan to Ezra and Maude (Asselin) DuPraw.
On October 25, 1947, she married Dewaine M. Allyn at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Burton, Michigan.
Donna was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for many many years. She was involved with the Council of Catholic Women. She was a lector and a Eucharistic Minister. When the school was open, she volunteered as a playground supervisor, worked in the library and in the lunchroom. She also helped with funeral luncheons and was coordinator of that ministry for a few years.
Donna was a homemaker, a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Surviving her are 7 children,
Bridgette (Allyn) and husband Jeff Shook,
Belinda Latham,
Malcolm and wife Jamie Allyn,
David Allyn and husband Mark Murphy,
Dawn Pires,
Kerri and husband Mark Wayne and
Benjamin Allyn;
13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewaine in 1984; her parents, Ezra and Maude DuPraw and 8 siblings.
