Boone, Bradley H. SSG. – of Montrose, age 26, died Sunday, March 5, 2017. The family will receive visitors at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose on Sunday from 1-6 PM. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Monday at 11 AM to process to Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly for burial with full military honors.
Bradley was born April 29, 1990, in Flint, Michigan to Charles and Tammy (Smith) Boone. He had resided in Montrose most of his life, spending the past year in Chatham, Michigan in the U.P. Bradley graduated from Hill-McCloy High School in Montrose in 2008 and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Oakland University. He served as SSG/ E-6 in the United States Army Reserve as Transportation Management Coordinator with a total of 8 years of service. He was honorably discharged in August of 2016. He also served a tour of duty in Afghanistan from 2010-2011. He was a member of the VFW Post # 1370 in Pontiac. Bradley was a gifted, multi-sport athlete. He served as captain of the Montrose football and wrestling teams, earning a team state wrestling championship in 2004. He also placed 8th in individual state wrestling in 2007. At Oakland University, he also served as captain of the college's first national championship football team and was named an All-American offensive lineman. He helped create the football clubs at UM-Flint and Oakland University. Brad also served as a youth wrestling coach at Lake Orion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, poetry and raising his chickens. He especially loved spending time with his infant son, Harlon.
Surviving are: Parents: Charles (Barbara) Boone and Tammy Boone (John Lester); Infant son, Harlon Boone, and fiance', Courtney Smith; Siblings: Robert Reed, Twin brother, Brandon (Amanda) Boone, Krystal (James) Ralston, and Chevelle Boone; Grandfather, Charles Boone; Nieces: Lilyana and Kaylinn; Nephew, Jason; Brad also leaves behind his beloved dog, Abby.
