Campbell, Paula Ann (Hoard) - Age 74, passed peacefully at Genesys Regional Hospital on October 8, 2017. Paula was born September 3, 1943 in Flint, MI. the daughter of Paul and Anna Hoard (Pichner). They preceded her in passing in 2000 and 1998, respectively. She grew up in the Kearsley School District, and helped her parents with the care of her two younger brothers, Ray and Steven Hoard. Paula graduated from Kearsley High School, Class of 1961. In the summer of 1962, she met the love of her life, Jack J. Campbell, and they married on April 6, 1963. They had many great memories during their younger years, cruising in Jack's hot rods. He even entered her in a Powder Puff race at Auto City Speedway, where she passed all the cars except one that she thought she already passed, and came in 2nd. In May of 1969, racing days were over they had one son, Rodney. She gave up her secretarial job at a local insurance office, and became a stay at home mom. She loved raising her son, and together they enjoyed many day adventures, either going to the local Golden Rod beach or regularly visiting her mother who lived just a mile down the road from them. As school age approached, Paula reentered the workforce for a short time before she was recruited by Jack to assist him in his growing business, with an adding machine and an IBM Selectric typewriter, while Rodney played under the table at her feet with his Hot Wheels cars. She wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty either. Many times she hopped into their five yard dump truck and went to the landscape yard to get a load of mulch or black dirt, then parked the truck on the driveway so Jack could deliver it when he got home from his job at GM. When they got into the fertilization and weed control business, Paula was the one that got the required credentials and went out and sprayed the commercial properties until they found the right candidate for the job. Together, they enjoyed many travels, whether it was for work to take a truck out of state to be built for the business, for leisure to Florida, or to see relatives in Missouri. Recently they had been spending winters in Punta Gorda, FL. at "Paula's" house, where they stayed up late at night playing there favorite card game. Paula was preceded by her husband, of 54 years Jack; just nine days prior, granddaughter, Sidney Alan Campbell; whom she loved dearly and missed even more. MD's legacy will be carried on by her son Rodney, and his wife Julie; granddaughter, Britanie Rountree; grandson, Wyatt Campbell; brothers, Ray and wife Helen Hoard, Steve and wife Fran Hoard; brother-in-law, Lanny and wife Mary Campbell; life long friend and special cousin, Connie Middleton; dear friend from childhood, Diane Moore. Special recognition to Charlotte Taylor, her home care taker and dear friend of the family. Funeral services will be held 1PM Wednesday October 11, 2017. at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd. Flint. Visitation will be held 2-7 Tuesday and from 11AM Wednesday until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to C.S. Mott Childrens Hospital Ann Arbor.
