Gerald N. Sharkey of Millington, Michigan passed away early Friday evening November 2, 2018; Gerald was 80 years old.
Gerald was born on September 21, 1938 in Kimball Township, Michigan and was the son of the late Nelson and Mary (Smith) Sharkey. On September 29, 1956 Gerald married Miss Saundra McQueen, and together they celebrated 58 years of marriage before Saundra passed in 2014. Gerald retired in 1991 from General Motors Chevy V-8 plant and was a member of the UAW Local 651. Gerald was a past members of the Millington Athletic Boosters, and the Millington Summer Festival Committee. Gerald loved the outdoors, he loved to hunt, fish, ride horses and most of all spend time with family and friends.
Gerald leaves his family. Daughter; Sheryl (Dave) Boegner, sons; Mike (Wendy) Sharkey, and Chad (Shelly) Sharkey. He leaves his grandchildren; Clint (Holly) Morey, Curtis (Shannon) Morey, Dr. Michael (Jennifer) Sharkey, Kyle (Brandy) Sharkey, Halee, Ethan, Garrett Sharkey. His great-grandchildren; Mason, Miles, Mack, Kiera, and Liam Morey, Trinity, Calvin, Isaiah, Noelle, Sharkey. Gerald leaves also a brother Rev. James Sharkey, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Besides his wife Saundra, and his parents, Gerald is also preceded in death by a sister in-law, Joann Roth.
The Sharkey family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, MI on Tuesday November 6, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and for a brief time on Wednesday from 12:00 pm until the services begin. Funeral services for Gerald will be held at the Hanlin Funeral Home on Wednesday November 7, 2018 beginning at 1:00 pm. With the burial to follow at the Millington Township Cemetery, in Millington. In lieu of flowers if you would like to give a gift in Gerald’s memory, the family has asked to please consider the Columbiaville Baptist Church.
