Greene, Thelma Jean of Mt. Morris, age 87, died Thursday, June 16, 2016, at her home. Cremation has taken place. Private services will be held at a later date. Thelma was born in Hillman, Michigan, on March 8, 1929, the daughter of Herschel and Beatrice (Essner) Rensberry. She married Luke Greene, Jr. at Crossroads Village in Flint, Michigan, on July 17, 1981. Luke preceded her in death in 1993. Thelma was a member of the Flint Central Church of the Nazarene for over 40 years and enjoyed singing in the choir. She received two Bachelor degrees from the University of Michigan in Anthropology and World History. Thelma enjoyed gardening, puzzles, world history and reading the bible. She especially loved world travel to Africa, the Middle East, Israel, Europe and most importantly, the Holy Land. Thelma was a classical pianist and an outstanding creative author. She was a breast cancer survivor. Thelma was a hospice volunteer with McLaren Hospice, worked as a substitute teacher, and was also a Sunday school teacher. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Thelma is survived by her children, Kenny and wife Diane Jones, Jerry and wife Yvonne Jones, Cathy Hungerford, Debbie and husband Dr. Kevin Bur, Linda and husband Steve Nish; grandchildren, Ryan, Eric, Jody, Lisa, Adam, Stacy, David, Angie, Missy, Michael, Nicholas; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Merlyn, Flossie, Irving, Forrest, Arlene, Howard; extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Luke; siblings, Phyllis, Eugene, and Paul. |
