Dale Paul Conn of Burton, age 80, passed away Sunday March 10, 2019 at Ascension-Genesys Hospital. The mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Dale by Fr. John Machiorlatti at 2:00pm Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 6340 Roberta St. in Burton, MI. The family will receive visitors at the church from 1:00pm until the beginning of mass. Those who wish to make contributions in Dale’s memory can direct contributions to either Blessed Sacrament Church or the Alzheimer Foundation.
Dale was born in Flint Michigan on May 23, 1938, the son of the late James Conn & Helen (Hittle) Conn. Dale resided in the Burton area his entire life. Answering the call of his country, Dale proudly served in the US Military. He was joined in marriage to Carol Gierok on December 20, 1958. Dale was a graduate of Bentley High School Class of 1958. He was a gifted athlete being named to several all-County Sports Teams. Dale volunteered with the Handicap Boy Scouts Post 4. He was a member at Blessed Sacrament Church, where he was a member of the Choir, Men’s Club and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Dale was an avid golfer, having learned when he was employed at Brookwood Golf Course. He was employed by the Al Serra Automotive Group in the Body Shop until his retirement.
Dale is survived by his wife of sixty years Carol, his children; Michael Conn and wife Marcey Clark-Conn, Mary Michelle (Shelly) Conn-Wallace and husband Daniel Wallace, Susan Conn-Thorpe and husband Bill Thorpe, and son James Conn. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Matthew Conn, Monica Conn, Maria Conn, Erin Thorpe, Danielle (Wallace) Paul, Hayley Wallace, Joshua Wallace, and great granddaughter Shelby Conn. He is also survived by brother Gene Conn, sisters; Janet Mozader, and Lorraine Lince. Dale is preceded in death by two of his sisters, and one of his brothers.
