Murlie, or Pat as most people called her, was born April 24, 1924. The 4th oldest of 9 children born to the late Luther and Altha (Kelso) Fox in Kennett, Missouri. She married Carl E. Jackson on June 24th, 1940 and they resided in Flint, Michigan. While Carl was off to fight in
WW2, Murlie worked at AC Spark Plug in Flint making Norden Bombsights for the war effort. It was during this time that she picked up the nickname “Pat”, a derivative of Patrick, for her “Irish Temper”. As you can imagine, she was quick to defend herself or her family!
After the war, Carl and Murlie operated Carl E. Jackson Lathing and Plastering. They did work for many schools and commercial buildings in the Genesee County area, including The Whiting Auditorium. Murlie ran the office and did the bookkeeping. "Pat" Jackson was very active in the Clio Area Senior Citizens Center, acting as Director for a number of
years. She fought to get additional funding for the Center and was able to secure a full time Director and eventually enough funding to build the existing Senior Center. For all her efforts, she was named Clio Citizen of the Year.
Surving are: Sons: Bruce (Eva) Jackson of Swartrz Creek, Daniel (Sandra) Jackson of Clio; Grandchildren Jennifer (Matt) Payok of E. Lansing, Catherine (Matt) Mitchell of Fenton, Steven Jackson of Troy, Angelique Jackson of Clio; Six Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, and six sisters and two brothers. Please sign our guestbook or share an online condolence with the family at www.oguinnfh.com
