PORTER, Susan Kathleen (Murphy) – of Flint, MI, age 58, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 6 PM Friday, September 25, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 706 West Flint Street, Davison, MI 48423; Susan’s cousin, Pastor Michael Thurau officiating. The family will receive visitors 5-6 PM Friday, September 25, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Annie Cronkright, in Susan’s memory.
Susan was born in Flint, MI on November 20, 1961, daughter of the late William and Sharon (Tenny) Murphy. She married John Franklin Porter on July 10, 1999 in Davison, MI and he preceded her in death on June 3, 2017. Susan earned a Bachelor of Accounting degree from Baker College. She enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends. Susan especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was the “Mom” who was always there for anyone that needed her, and she will be deeply missed.
Susan is survived by her 4 children, Annie (Jeff) Cronkright, Emily (Chad) Siders, Christopher Porter and Kathleen “Katie” Porter; 5 grandchildren, Kaydance Porter, Addisyn Siders, Maygen Porter, Charleigh Cronkright and Jaxon Cronkright; 2 sisters, Karen (Matt) Owen and Marcia (Joe) Nance; sister-in-law, Linda Ueberroth; 3 aunts, Kathryn Boyce, Sandra Thurau and Krystine (John) Mosier; 2 uncles, Bill (Linda) Tenny and Charlie (June) Murphy; lifelong friend, Denise Schneider; best friend, Geri Hurley; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sharon Murphy and her husband, John Franklin Porter.
