BLANTON, James “Skip” (Gramps) - of Burton, age 57, passed away October 10, 2016 at his residence. A Funeral Service will be held 2 PM Friday, October 14, 2016 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Joe Cottam officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-8 PM. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
Skip was born in Neenah, WI on September 10, 1959, son of James and Joan (Bates) Blanton. He married Lisa Palmer on November 7, 1981. During his teenage years he worked on Henderson Farms in Bentley, MI alongside his aunt and uncle. He later became the owner and operator of Skip’s Towing and Lockout Service. Skip was a member of the Burton Moose Lodge and the NRA. He enjoyed coaching and playing in the Mexican-American Slow-pitch softball league, and bowling in the Tuesday night men’s league at Jack’s Place in Flushing.
Skip is survived by his wife, Lisa; daughters, Nicole Blanton-Little and Melissa; grandson, Casey; mother, Joan Russell; siblings, Daniel (Cheryl) Blanton, Rebecca (Seth) Goldberg, Dave (Jeanne) Blanton and Mike McKenzie; sisters-in-law, Barb Blanton, Marie Palmer; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by father, James; brother, Tom; sister, Betsy and brother-in-law, Chuck Palmer. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Osama, Burton Davita Dialysis and Patriot Ambulance.
