The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 10AM until the time of celebration at 11AM.

Lyle J. was born December 10, 1923 in Clio, Michigan. Son of the late Lyle Dorr and Mildred (Jewell) Brown. He graduated from Clio High School, Class of 1942, and continued his education at Central Michigan University. Mr. Brown proudly served in World War II with the Army Air Corp as Radio/Navigator/Waist Gunner with the 449 Bomb Squadron flying out of Italy. After completing 51 missions, he returned home, Honorably Discharged. Lyle J. married his sweetheart, Leona Peters on May 6, 1945 in Clio. His Loving wife preceded him in death on January 15, 2014. He worked with his parents at the family business, Brown's Dry Goods Store on Vienna Rd., Main Street in Clio.

He will be remembered by many as the "Driver of Clio School Bus Number #5" for high school. Lyle J. also served his community as President of the Clio Lions Club. He raised several dogs over the years, to be trained as Seeing Eyes for the Blind. Lyle always loved taking pictures of everyone and for many years operated Brown's Photography Studio, taking graduation, prom, wedding and baby pictures of many Clio families. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, but fishing in Canada was his favorite. The beauty of the Canadian Lakes would always be close to his heart.

Lyle started his artistic career during his time in the service, sending cartoons to friends and teachers depicting military life, moving on to sign making for Brown's Dry Goods Store. He started by working in pencil, then charcoal, and progressing to oils. Lyle studied for years and began painting beautiful works, Canadian Pines, Lakes and almost always with a cabin. He shared his talent by teaching oil painting classes to many, often gifting a finished piece to a smiling bystander. Later, his art was signed by "Brown Wolf", a character who became another way for Lyle to make someone smile. The Indian, Brown Wolf, in native costume, would visit nursing homes and entertain the elderly with songs and stories, many times having patients and staff join in with rhythm makers. Lyle J. loved life.

Lyle is survived by his children: Jon (Kim) Brown of Florida, Nanette (Fred) Kuhlmann of Lansing, Jenny Lou (John) Cascarelle of Florida, and Todd (Jessica) Brown of Davison; 11 Grandchildren; 15 Great grandchildren; Sister-In-Law, Dorothea Peters of Clio; Nieces and Nephews. Lyle was also preceded in death by his son, Matthew Perry Brown.
Lyle J. Brown was a faithful, lifetime member of Bethany United Methodist Church of Clio, and now thru his faith, Lyle is in the presence of Jesus Christ Our Lord. Lyle was ready and he heard Jesus call. Please sign our guestbook or share an online condolence with the family at www.oguinnfh.com.
