DAVIS McAVINCHEY, Anna Belle (Callis). – of Davison, MI age 92, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016 at her residence. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Davison United Methodist Church, 207 E. Third St., Davison, Rev. Kevin Miles officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors 5-7 PM Friday, November 11, 2016 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423 and 10-11 AM Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John R. Davis Memorial Scholarship at Mott Community College, in Anna’s memory.
Anna was born in Owensville, IN on September 1, 1924, daughter of the late George and Flora (Shannon) Callis. She graduated Flint Central High School Class of 1941. Anna then studied Aeronautical Engineering at Purdue University. On September 6, 1947, Anna Callis married John R. Davis. He preceded her in death in 1998. Anna was a member of Davison United Methodist Church and attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Flint, MI for many years. She was employed with Flint Community Schools in the Home Arts department for over 20 years. Anna was an extremely talented weaver, seamstress, knitter and embroiderer.
Anna is survived by her husband of 15 years, Patrick McAvinchey; 3 children, Susan Davis of Ann Arbor, MI, Thomas (Paula) Davis of Greensburg, IN and Catherine Amboy of Lapeer, MI; 6 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Christina) Davis of Howell, MI, Joseph (Anne) Davis of Broomfield, CO, Jonathan Minder of Ann Arbor, MI, Rebecca (Joshua) Miller of Berkley, MI, Daniel Amboy of West Bloomfield, MI and John Amboy of Lapeer, MI; 1 brother, Donald (Marion) Callis; 1 sister-in-law, Geraldine Callis; 9 step-children, Michael McAvinchey, Richard (Ellen) McAvinchey, Donald McAvinchey, Robert McAvinchey, Mary McAvinchey (Jose Guerrero), Alisa McAvinchey, Frank (Sharon) McAvinchey, Daniel McAvinchey and David (Kelly) McAvinchey; many other loving family members and friends. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, George Callis, Charles Callis and Robert Callis; 1 sister, Sudie Root and 1 step-son, Timothy McAvinchey.
