Morrish, Doris J. age 90, of Frankenmuth, formerly of Flushing, passed away Monday, August 21, 2017. Per her request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or a library of your choice.
Doris was born in St. Louis, Michigan on March 18, 1927, the daughter of the late Iney E. Jr. and Nellie (Albrecht) Frasier. She was a graduate of Grand Blanc High School. She worked at Hamady Brothers Grocery Stores while in high school. Upon graduation, Doris was employed by the Chevrolet Motor Division in the Engineering Department. She met her future husband, Lowell V. Morrish at a dance and they were married on April 25, 1950. She became a dairy farmer’s wife on the family dairy farm on Morrish Road, where they farmed for 10 years. Lowell’s job transferred them to Battle Creek for five years. They later returned to the Flint area, where they remained, residing in Flushing. Doris found work at Mott Community College as a Secretary to the Dean of Learning Resources. She worked at the college for many years before retiring to take care of Lowell.
Doris was an avid seamstress and quilter. She belonged to the Genesee Star Quilters for many years, where she served as President for a couple of years. She volunteered for over 20 years at McLaren Auxiliary, Flushing Area Outreach Center, and the Presbyterian Church LOGO’s program. Doris also enjoyed reading and was a member of the Flushing Book Club.
She is survived by her two children, David L. and wife Jeanette Morrish of Birch Run and Diana L. and husband Joseph Cybularz of Jacobus, PA; six grandchildren, Matthew (Kelly) Morrish of Great Falls, MT, JeanMarie (Cary) Brainard of Detroit, Jennifer Morrish, a student at Grand Valley State University, Rebecca Cybularz (Trevor Thomas) of Frederick, MD, Kristina Cybularz of Conshohocken, PA, Andrew Cybularz of Frederick, MD; two great-grandchildren, Tristan Matthew and Evelyn Rose Morrish of Great Falls. Doris was preceded in death by her husband in 1999; her parents; two brothers, Donald and Michael; and sister, Patsy.
