FLEWELLING, James L. “Jimbo” “Big Jim”– Of Flint, age 59, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at Genesys Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Phillip A. Parkin officiating.
Those desiring may make contributions to the family.
Visitation 12-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
James was born in Flint, Michigan on March 25, 1958, the son of Lloyd and Bonnie (Mullin) Flewelling.
He graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1977.
On September 7, 1985 he married Jean M. Hargett.
Jim managed Fenton Road Lawnmower & Sales for over 25 years and
worked at Genesee Auto Salvage until 2000.
Jim was a parent volunteer at Cody Academy lunch program and the Haunted House at Halloween.
He loved Christmas and decorating his home with thousands of lights for over 20 years until his health would no longer allow it. This year his children decorated the house one last time for him.
Jim loved camping, boating, all his dogs and worked on cars all his life.
He leaves behind, his wife of 31 years, Jean Flewelling;
children, Lisa (Brian) Oakman, Amanda Oakman (Patricia), Seneca (Damon) Bailey and Laura Flewelling;
grandchildren, Gracie and Tyler Cummins and McKayla Bailey;
father, Lloyd (Dorothy) Flewelling;
in-laws, Neil and Lucille Starr;
sisters, Carol, Kathryn, Denise, Pam and Nico;
sisters-in-law, Carolyn, Susan and Jill;
many nieces, nephews and many special friends that will never forget him.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Flewelling; brother, Larry Flewelling; sister, Chande Crawley; stepson, Douglas Starr and favorite dog, Bear.
