HARWOOD, John M. – of Clio, age 67, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio with military honors provided by the Clio American Legion Post #158. Sister Lucille D’Amelio officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 3-5PM and 6-8PM and on Saturday from 11AM until the time of service at 12PM. Contributions may be made to the Genesee County Humane Society.
John was born on March 31, 1947 in Flint, MI, son of the late John and Kathryn (Belill) Harwood. He married Judith Rawlings on December 2, 1967 in Clio; they enjoyed 46 years together. John served in the U.S. Army from 1967 until 1969 earning the award of Expert Marksman. He was also awarded the National Defense Service Medal. John worked at Sears for 35 years and was a “Top Salesman.” He loved watching the Detroit Tigers and enjoyed bowling, horseshoes and cooking. He was a fabulous uncle and a people person, known to many as the “Gentle Giant.” He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are: beloved wife, Judith Harwood of Clio; brother, Tom Harwood of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; loving furry companion, Missy; many other loving family members and friends.
