Elaine Kotwicki

Born: 9/14/1928
Died: 5/19/2016
Age: 87
Community: Flint, MI

KOTWICKI, Elaine - Age 87, of Flint, Michigan, departed this life Thursday, May 19, 2016 at her home in Burleson, Texas surrounded by loved ones and friends. On Friday, June 3 at 3:00 PM she will be laid to rest at the Sunset Hills Cemetery; and a Memorial Service will follow at 6:00pm at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Elaine was born in Flint, Michigan on September 14, 1928, the daughter of Fred and Dorothy (Smith) Gibbs. She lived in Flint, Michigan most of her life, and spent the past 25 years residing in Fort Worth and Burleson, Texas.

As a young woman she helped a neighbor, Marion Schramke, take care of her three children, and she often spoke very fondly of those days. She also worked at a flower shop. However, her real calling in life was as a mother and loving wife. She was an excellent cook, known for her Polish ethnic dishes; and poured her heart and soul into every meal she made, which is what made them "extra special". She was also an outstanding homemaker, and kept her house as immaculate as a Model Home. Elaine enjoyed and excelled in interior decorating and staging, and had a natural talent in that area. She loved all types of music, and most recently enjoyed country music. She worked closely with her daughter in the recording studio on CD's, and took several trips to Nashville, Tennessee. Elaine was a volunteer for Easter Seals and was dearly loved by the children there, and was very highly thought of by their parents as well. She was also an American Red Cross volunteer. Elaine had fun working on the Ross Perot campaign; and also had a green thumb, she enjoyed gardening and landscaping. She dearly missed "Aunt Nanny", and spoke highly of her throughout the years. She also loved and treasured her two "furry" grandchildren, Hayden and Hannah, Silver and Golden Exotic Shorthair Persians.

But most of all, she was a very intelligent woman full of determination and fortitude, with a great sense of humor and wit... who brought so much joy and happiness to the lives of all whom were blessed to have known her.

She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her daughter, Marcia Culver of Burleson, Texas; and several relatives. She was preceded in death by her beloved little brother Dale Gibbs; father Fred Gibbs; husband Harry Kotwicki; son Dale Kotwicki; mother Dorothy Davis (Gibbs); and stepfather Herbert Davis.
