SADRO, Deanna – of Flint, age 72, passed away April 23, 2016 at McLaren – Flint. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Eric Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Tuesday. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to P.A.W.S.
Deanna was born in Flint, MI on February 3, 1944, daughter of the late John and Jesse (Crawford) Gilbert. She married David Sadro. Deanna was special education ParaPro until her retirement in 2003. Helping Special Needs children was a true blessing to Deanna. After retirement, Deanna enjoyed volunteering at local hospitals as a visitor for patients who had no family. She would read, play board games, and make herself available to people who, while hospitalized, lacked family to interact with. Deanna’s other passion was animals. Because a cold nose and a wagging tail was all that was required to endear a lonely stray to Deanna, she became a volunteer for the Genesee County Humane Society and the Genesee County Animal Control, where she kept the animals company by walking, playing with them, and grooming them.
Deanna is survived by her husband, David; children, John R. (Shari) May of Davison, Rick (Karen) May of Flint, Laurie (Orrin) Woodward of Port St. Lucie, Florida; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Belinda) Gilbert, Jack Gilbert. Deanna was preceded in death by her parents John and Jesse Gilbert.
