RIETZ, George Bruce – of Mt. Morris, age 90, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 31, 2024 at his daughter’s residence. Honoring George’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held at this time. Memorial contributions can be made to the family for future designation.

George was born August 8, 1934 in Wheatland, Wyoming. The oldest child of Andrew and Mildred (Wilson) Rietz. George grew up moving around the country with his family, having lived in many states out west and east, he graduated the class of 1952 from Allendale Fairfax High School in South Carolina. He went on to live in Beecher where he met his wife of 68 years Betty Ann (Medich) where they married on August 11, 1956. They moved to Ohio then to Texas where he proudly served his country in the US Army from 1957 to 1959. After another brief move back to Ohio, George and Betty finally settled down in Beecher for nearly 50 years and raised two children, Michael and Terri.

George worked many interesting jobs- from helping on family ranches in Wyoming, picking beans in Oregon, mining salt in the Diamond Crystal salt mines in St Clair, and numerous electric motor shops including Romanoff, Universal Lift Parts, Electric Motor Co., and finally retiring in 2012 after 25 years of service from Moore Brothers electric motors in Flint. He spent much of his free time fishing on the Great Lakes, Tawas, and locally. He also enjoyed model airplanes, building electric motors and watching TV. He was a member of the American Legion Post #64 in Flint, Michigan. He will always be remembered for bringing donuts to Rose's house on Sunday and for always having coffee and cookies available to any who stopped by. He will be deeply missed.

Surviving are: Wife of 68 years, Betty Rietz; Children, Michael (Tami) Rietz, Terri (Richard) Nagy; Granddaughters, Crystal (Jeff) Fike, Veronica (Tim Williams) Nagy, Emily (Keegan) Oman, Rose Rietz; Great Grandchildren, Zachary Freese, Angelica Freese, Georgianna Fike; Sisters, Roxie Dodge, Peggy (Sonny) Osterhout; Several loving nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents Andrew, Mildred; in-laws Fred, Rose Medich; brothers James and Charles; brother-in-law George Medich.
